How can good care be given when there is no consistency when trying to get an appointment with the same this is almost impossible GP.
Surely best practice is consistency.
Also the building is old tired and in need of a major facelift, The 30,000 patients deserve better.
I have found most of the staff very helpful, there is always the odd person who claim to know more than the Dr but these are few and far between. Generally I have had good experiences with this surgery and the reception I mostly have dealings with are great
Used to be a great surgery however, in recent years and especially over the last few months seems to have lost it’s way.
1. Unable to make repeat appointment despite being told to do so by the Doctor during the consultation.
2. Virtually impossible to ring up on the morning for appointment and get through.
3. Go into the surgery at 8am, if you are able, to get an appointment and are confronted by queues and an over zealous receptionist who ask personal questions infront of others so they can “care navigate” you. Very intrusive and embarrassing, but you can ask to go into a private room if you prefer however, by the time you get out all the appointments for that day may of gone!!
4. You no longer have a family doctor, and are likely to see a number of GP’s at the surgery, going over your symptoms every single time (last time I needed medical assistance I saw 4 different doctors and 1 nurse practitioner over a number of weeks, and was given different medical opinions every time!)
Such a shame ...... I have been a patient here for nearly 50 years
I attended a routine anti-depression review and felt my medication wasn't as effective as it could be. The Gp I saw was Dr Burns he was excellent in explaining the implication of withdrawing off my medication and starting another and how it will take 12 weeks to get into my system. Advised to up medication review in 6 to 8 weeks but to return at any point if I feel it not helping or side effects get worse. Also did the mental health questionaire and no point was I made to feel rushed and over all an excellent appointment.
doctors great , getting hold of reception ,very very bad . system not working , 1 phone number 500266 keeps you on hold for up to an hour , people dont want to be waiting on the phone especially if ill for all this time , ten minutes which is a long time is long enough , need more people manning phones ,the new system is not helping .i was on my phone an hour and half and still did,nt get through . i am capable of going up to surgery to get this sorted ,but the letter says get intouch with reception (but you should say by foot) i feel more sorry for those who cant get there and need a phone number to get intouch as this one 500266 does,nt work for most ,you just get sick of waiting and hang up . is that what you wanted all along ?
